Estate planning involves much more than preparing wills, trusts and deciding who will receive your assets at your death. A comprehensive estate planning strategy involves the design and implementation of a strategy to protect your family in the event of incapacity or disability as well as death. Medicare does not cover most long term care services so working with an Elder Law Attorney will help you prepare for how to get finances in order and what to expect during this phase of life. At Joseph L. Motta Co., we consult and help prepare our clients for this phase with strategies and estate planning tools to help with long term care.
The rules governing Medicaid in Ohio are extremely complex and have undergone substantial changes in the last few years. Effective Medicaid planning strategies can ensure assets remain in your estate to pass on to next generations. My wife and I highly recommend Joe for estate planning services. We have been using Joe’s services for many years, and he has been extremely thorough and thoughtful. He created a comprehensive, efficient estate plan for our family, guiding us through each step in the process. He has also advised us on other legal matters and given referrals when needed.
I met Joseph after a Downsizing presentation in February, 2020. He was an excellent and informative speaker regarding estate planning and elder care. My brother, sister and I needed assistance with filing for Medicaid for my elderly mother who required full-time care at a nursing home since September, 2020. We met with Joseph to discuss how to apply for Medicaid as well as questions about selling our family home. We learned so much from Joseph due to his detailed knowledge of Medicaid issues and he patiently gave us answers to the numerous questions we had, since we never went through this experience before. Whether we met with him at his office, called him or sent him an e-mail, he was always punctual in getting back to us and truly cared about our situation. His vast knowledge was a blessing as we moved through the Medicaid application process and other legal matters. We highly recommend Joseph to those who need elder care assistance or help in applying for Medicaid.
Estate planning is something we have put off for years. Joe had provided seminars that I have attended in years past. When the decision was finally made to proceed the rare benefit of procrastinating paid off as his office is now in our town of residence. Joe proved quite knowledgeable and very easy to work with. He understood quickly what we were trying to accomplish. He produced the documents and arranged for the transfer of our home to a trust. He gave us explicit instructions on what else we had to do to accomplish the goal of setting up a trust for ourselves and children. He also assured us that he would be there for any snags of which there were none. A wholehearted endorsement.

We met Joe Motta at our church and interacted with him, through church, for years. We found him to be a man of integrity and honesty. It came time to revise our wills. We did not hesitate to employ the services of Joe. We first provided him the information he requested via a questionnaire. Our first meeting was professional he anticipated our concerns and provided the much needed information. Even to the point the questions we prepared, were answered, because he was through in his presentation. He provided us additional resources or information outside of the services he provides. He understood our needs, is someone we can have faith in as our trusted legal advisor and estate planner.

I have referred a number of clients to Joe for estate planning, probate and Medicaid planning needs. They all have enjoyed working with him. He is knowledgeable, has a friendly manner and he is easy to work with.
We have just completed the entire estate planning process with Joe. This is something I should have a done years ago but very glad it is done and also very happy we worked with Joe Motta. He is thorough, knowledgeable and really covered all the bases for us. I leaned an awful lot through this and it is so nice to know we control this and not a judge when the time comes. We highly recommend all get this done and also highly recommend Joe. You will not be disappointed.
My wife and I are extremely pleased with the service and personalized service you provided. I, personally, was pleased with your patience and the complete explanations we received from you. The product you provided was even more comprehensive than we anticipated and the addition of digital media to the paper media is most appreciated.
Thank you so much.

Joe was recommended to me by my financial advisor. This was an excellent recommendation as Joe expertly crafted our family’s Trust and papers to manage our life events. He is professional, friendly, and a pleasure to work with. He continues to be our trusted legal advisor and I would highly recommend him for any estate planning matter.
I have known Joe for years and when I needed help with my fathers estate I was so pleased to find out he was in the area by my home. He is truly someone you can trust which made the experience so much better. Joe is very knowledgeable and kind. I would highly recommend him.
Joe is so easy to work with. I would highly recommend Mr. Motta for any estate planning. The binder that was provided was so "updated". It includes an entire section for outlining all online usernames/passwords for email, bank accounts, online shopping accounts, video game sites, cloud storage sites, and on and on. His recommendation to include printed beneficiary statements was also a great reminder. The flash drive provided is also great to have. Joe even provided the IRA distribution chart for younger family members to be aware of if/when the time comes. Everything, and I mean everything, is now in one place. Thanks to Joe and his staff.
My wife and I were recommended to Joseph through a family member. We had not been through estate planning before and did not know what to expect. Joseph and his team were incredibly approachable, informative, and professional throughout the process. Joseph's work was timely, thorough, and fairly priced. Estate planning can be an uncomfortable experience, but Joseph and his team made it simple and stress free. I highly recommend Joseph and his team and would certainly work with them again.
I highly recommend Joseph L. Motta LPA for anyone who desires estate planning. He is kind, thoughtful, and accomodating. Joe explained each step to me in a very understandable way. Everything was done in a timely fashion. Working with Joe was truly a pleasure.
Joe Motta provided great help in managing financial issues related to my mother's care. He made sure everything was done properly, provided great contacts for other professional services, and was responsive to phone calls and emails. We highly recommend him for Elder Care law.
Joe Motta is the "serious" estate planning attorney you've been searching for - he knows his stuff, is always doing research on new laws/better ways to do things, and truly cares about the clients he works with. Everyone we've talked to has always said the same thing we do - If you have a question about a sticky estate situation or need help with planning for the future he is 100% the person to talk to. Thanks again for all your help Joe.
Our family was blessed to be introduced to Mr. Motta. My elderly mother met him first and retained him to update her basic will. His costs were reasonable and she enjoyed working with him so then we retained him to work on our estate planning. While this work was in process we received horrible news that another family member was diagnosed with a fast-progressing terminal disease. We asked Mr. Motta if he could prepare end-of-life documents since they did not have anything current. He responded very quickly and prepared a financial power of attorney, a healthcare power of attorney, a living will and a last will and testament. These documents enabled us to sign up for hospice care and handle the financial matters without delay. We are very grateful to Mr. Motta and his team for treating us like family even though we had just recently met. Mr. Motta is a caring, responsive attorney with a wealth of information. I highly recommend him for your legal needs.
